VJ and singer Sunita Dulal started musical company

mainly to promote her own albums

‘I have started musical company mainly to promote my own albums and to work with other artists closely,’ says Sunita Dulal, a well known VJ and popular folk singer, who has recently launched her new album ‘Shirma Phool’.

With this album Dulal has introduced a new musical company named Kamaldevi Digital. She began her musical career in Nepali music industry a decade ago.

Sharing her reasons for launching a musical company, she says that even after an artist releases her album with hit songs and does good business through CRBT downloads the company always shows the loss to the artist and deprives her of the rightful share. ‘I was never ready to buy the company’s version and wanted see what actually happens.That is why I started a music company myself.’ With a company of her own, she can keep the copyright of the songs to herself, which she regards as an achievement in itself.

‘Though the public know me as a folk singer, I have also sung songs of different genres,’ she adds ‘especially when I am in abroad on a musical tour the audience make me sing song of various types.’While she was on US and Hong Kong visits she had to sing duets with Yam Baral and Deepak Limbu. She believes that a singer must be versatile. She says that her new album has come as a solid outcome of her decade long experience as a singer. This is the dream project of her. She had planned to launch the album before one year, but her America visit postponed her dream project.

Her new album also comprises of folk-based modern songs. Sunita regards this album as an anthology of modern songs with folk tuning, which includes seven songs. She is also preparing VCD versions of the songs.The song titled ‘Mata Gori Gori’ in this album has the music and lyrics by Chandra Kumar Dong and its video was directed by Bhushan Dahal. She is thinking of visualizing other songs of the album as well.

Sunita has already brought 11 folk albums in the market. Her popular folk albums includes ‘Ho Ki Hoina Ta Sanu,’ Teej album ‘Unko Lagi Barta Baseko,’ ‘Aba Ta Maile Ni Jhumka Lagauchhu’. ‘Shirma Phool’ is her 12th music album.
